Thermage

What is Thermage?

Thermage is a safe and clinically proven way to tighten and contour the skin, achieving improvements in tone, contour, and texture naturally by stimulating your own collagen.

Thermage is completely non-invasive: it requires no surgery or injections. A single session tightens existing collagen and stimulates the growth of new collagen. Improvements are seen immediately and continue to appear for up to six months. Results can last for years.

The Thermage procedure is only available in the offices of qualified doctors. The procedure is typically performed in a single session that can take anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the area being treated. And since there is no downtime, you can quickly return to your normal activities.

Unlike lasers, Thermage works on all skin types and tones. And unlike injections or fillers, Thermage works on the entire face: forehead, eyes, nasolabial folds, jawline, and the area under the chin.

How does Thermage work?

The skin consists of three distinct layers: an outer visible layer on the surface called the epidermis, a collagen-rich middle layer beneath the surface called the dermis, and an inner layer below the dermis called the subcutaneous layer, also known as the fat layer, which has a network of collagen fibers.

When the collagen in these three layers is damaged due to sun exposure, heredity, or the normal aging process, your face begins to sag and wrinkle. Logically, treatments that only work on the surface cannot restore collagen in the deeper layers of your skin.

Thermage is the only non-invasive procedure that tightens and renews collagen in all three layers of the skin. How does it do this? Thermage’s unique Capacitive Radiofrequency technology safely heats the middle layer of the skin and the collagen network in the inner layer, causing an immediate tightening effect while also improving tone and texture. The improvements will continue and become more noticeable over four to six months following the treatment due to new collagen growth.

Is it suitable for all skin types?

Thermage works on all skin types and colors. And best of all, only one Thermage treatment is needed to achieve full benefits—unlike some laser therapies that require three to five sessions. Additionally, there is virtually no downtime, allowing you to quickly resume your daily routine.

Who are candidates for Thermage?

Anyone who wants to improve the appearance of their skin can be a candidate. Typically, women and men between the ages of 35 and 60 achieve the best and most predictable results. If your skin is very loose, the results may not be as dramatic.

How long does the session last?

The entire procedure is usually completed in a single session lasting between 20 minutes and 2 hours, depending on the area being treated. General anesthesia is not required, but to ensure your comfort, I can offer mild pain relief medication before the treatment.

During the treatment, you will feel a brief warming sensation each time Thermage delivers radiofrequency energy to the middle layers of your skin. This indicates that your collagen is being stimulated and tightened.

After the session, do I need rest?

After the treatment, your skin may appear slightly red for one or two days. However, most people return to their regular activities immediately after the procedure, without any downtime or special aftercare.

What should I expect from the treatment?

Immediate results: You should feel and see smoother and firmer skin immediately after your Thermage treatment. You may also notice some contouring effects that begin to enhance the shape of your face.

Ongoing improvements over time: After the procedure, you will continue to see improvements in your skin as more new collagen is produced, along with additional contouring effects from continued tightening over time. These effects will continue for up to six months, and you will see long-lasting results.
