Rhinoplasty

The First Step!
Choose a Surgeon You Can Trust

Selecting a board-certified plastic surgeon is crucial for achieving safe and satisfying results. Look for a surgeon certified by the Mexican Council of Aesthetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and a full member of the Mexican Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. These qualifications ensure your surgeon is well-trained and up-to-date on the latest techniques.

Who Are Candidates for Rhinoplasty?

The ideal candidates for rhinoplasty are healthy individuals who are mentally stable, realistic about their expectations, and looking to enhance the appearance of their nose.

Age is also an important factor; it’s best to wait until facial growth is complete, which typically occurs by age 14 for females and slightly later for males.

What Should You Know About Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is the second most common plastic surgery procedure after liposuction. It can involve reducing or increasing the size of the nose, changing the angle between the nose and the upper lip, or correcting birth defects, injuries, or breathing issues.

Before deciding on rhinoplasty, we will discuss your expectations in detail.

Planning Your Procedure

During your initial visit:

  • I will evaluate your overall health and ask about your expectations.
  • I will explain possible solutions tailored to your unique facial structure and features, ensuring the final result harmonizes with your face.
  • Establishing mutual trust during this first consultation is essential for a successful surgery.
  • Feel free to ask any questions about your case. I will discuss the surgical techniques, type of anesthesia, procedure location, risks, costs, and any alternative options available.
How Is the Procedure Performed?

Rhinoplasty is performed under local or general anesthesia, depending on the complexity of the procedure and our mutual decision. The surgery typically lasts 1 to 2 hours, though some cases may take longer. Most patients are discharged the same day.

  1. Incisions: Incisions are made inside the nostrils (closed technique), leaving no visible scars.
  2. Modifications:
    • I will reshape the bones and cartilage of the nose to achieve the desired form.
    • The nasal hump will be removed, and the nasal bones will be repositioned for a narrower appearance.
    • Cartilage modifications will refine the nasal tip and improve the angle between the nose and the upper lip.
  3. Splints: Special internal and external splints will be placed to help the nose maintain its new shape. These will be removed within a few days.
Recovery

You will be able to stand and move around the day after surgery and resume normal activities within a week. However, it may take several weeks for the nose to settle into its final shape. I recommend:

  • Avoiding strenuous activities for 2–3 weeks.
  • Protecting the nose from impact, rubbing, or sun exposure for at least 8 weeks.
  • Taking extra care when washing your face, hair, or applying makeup.

I will monitor your recovery closely, with multiple follow-up visits during the first month to address any concerns or questions.

Your New Look

In the initial days after surgery, it’s easy to forget that the final result will be worth the wait. Stay patient and calm—swelling and bruising will subside, and you’ll notice daily improvements in both your appearance and confidence.

Within one to two weeks, the visible signs of surgery will fade, though the full results of a rhinoplasty may take up to six months or longer to become apparent. Trust the process, and you will feel great about your new look.
