Forehead Rejuvenation
Brow Lift or Upper Face Rejuvenation
The First Step!
Choose a Surgeon You Can Trust
Selecting a board-certified plastic surgeon is critical for achieving safe and satisfactory
results. Look for a surgeon certified by the Mexican Council of Aesthetic and Reconstructive
Plastic Surgery and a full member of the Mexican Association of Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgery. These qualifications ensure your surgeon is well-trained and knowledgeable about
the latest techniques in the field.
Who Are Candidates for a Brow Lift?
If you are concerned about expression lines or other signs of aging in the brow area, a Brow
Lift may be the right option for you. This procedure:
- Reduces creases that develop on the forehead or between the eyes (on the nasal bridge).
- Improves horizontal lines across the forehead.
- Repositions excess skin above the upper eyelid.
- Elevates the eyebrows to a more youthful and alert position.
Brow lifts can be performed alongside eyelid surgery, facelifts, and non-surgical facial
rejuvenation techniques. Ideal candidates are healthy, non-smokers (or light smokers), with
a positive outlook and realistic goals for the procedure.
What Should I Know About a Brow Lift?
During your initial consultation:
- I will ask about your reasons for considering a brow lift.
- I will evaluate your overall health and any medications you take.
- I will examine your eyebrows and facial features, assessing their size, shape, and skin
quality.
- After a thorough evaluation, I will discuss your concerns, explain the potential
techniques, outline the associated risks, and provide cost estimates.
- Your case will be documented for reference before, during, and after your surgery.
How Is the Procedure Performed?
- Anesthesia: The procedure will be performed under intravenous sedation
and local anesthesia or general anesthesia, depending on the complexity of your case. I
will recommend the best option for your specific needs.
- Incision Patterns:
- Above the eyebrows (supraciliary): The simplest approach but may leave visible
scars.
- Endoscopic approach: Small incisions made within the scalp.
- Minimal incisions: Small incisions in the scalp.
- Coronal approach: A crown-shaped incision within the scalp.
These incisions allow for repositioning, tightening, or removal of skin and muscles to
correct creases, expression lines, and sagging eyebrows.
- Closure: Incisions are closed with removable or absorbable sutures,
skin adhesives, or special clips.
While results will be immediately noticeable, swelling in the forehead and brows may last for
up to two weeks or longer. The final outcome can be evaluated around the fourth week
post-surgery.
Important Information
Most patients are discharged the same day, although an overnight stay may be required in some
cases. Mild discomfort is expected and can be managed with prescribed medication. It is
essential to ask any questions you may have; communication is key to achieving the best
surgical outcomes.
Recovery
- Initial sutures are removed around five days post-surgery, with the final sutures taken
out by day 14, depending on the procedure.
- Most patients can return to regular activities after seven days.
- For the first three days, you should sleep with your head slightly elevated and use cold
compresses as needed.
Results
- The final shape of your brows will become apparent approximately two weeks after
surgery.
- Scars may appear pink and firm initially but will fade and become nearly invisible
within six months.
- The results of your brow lift are permanent, provided you maintain a stable weight and a
healthy lifestyle.
- You’ll love your refreshed and rejuvenated appearance!
