Brow Lift
Upper Facial Rejuvenation
The First Step: Choose a Surgeon You Can Trust
Choosing a board-certified plastic surgeon ensures safe and effective results. Look for a
surgeon certified by the Mexican Council of Aesthetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and
a full member of the Mexican Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. These
qualifications indicate the surgeon's expertise and commitment to staying updated on the
latest techniques.
Who Are Candidates for a Brow Lift?
If you are concerned about expression lines or other signs of aging in the brow area, a brow
lift may be the right option for you. This procedure:
- Reduces forehead creases or those that develop on the bridge of the nose between the
eyes.
- Improves horizontal lines across the forehead.
- Repositions the excess tissue above the upper eyelid.
- Lifts the eyebrows to a more youthful and alert position.
Brow lifts can be performed in combination with eyelid surgery, facelifts, or non-surgical
facial rejuvenation techniques. Ideal candidates are healthy individuals, non-smokers (or
light smokers), with a positive outlook and realistic goals for the procedure.
What Should You Know About a Brow Lift?
During your initial consultation:
- I will ask about your reasons for considering a brow lift.
- I will evaluate your overall health and any medications you use.
- I will examine your eyebrows and face, assessing their size, shape, and skin quality.
Once the evaluation is complete:
- I will listen closely to your concerns and expectations.
- I will explain the possible techniques to address your needs, along with the associated
risks and costs.
- I will document your case to establish reference points before, during, and after the
procedure.
How Is the Procedure Performed?
The surgery typically involves:
- Anesthesia: Intravenous sedation with local anesthesia or general
anesthesia, depending on the complexity of the case.
- Incision Patterns:
- Above the eyebrows (supraciliary): The simplest option but may leave visible scars.
- Endoscopic approach: Small incisions made within the scalp.
- Minimal scalp incisions.
- Coronal approach: A crown-shaped incision within the scalp.
- These incisions allow for repositioning, adjustment, or removal of skin and muscles to
correct creases, expression lines, and sagging brows.
- Closure of incisions with removable or absorbable sutures, skin adhesives, or special
clips.
While results will be immediately noticeable, swelling in the forehead and brows may last up
to two weeks or longer. The final results will become apparent around the fourth week
post-surgery.
Important Information
- Most patients are discharged the same day, though some cases may require an overnight
hospital stay.
- Mild discomfort is expected but can be managed with prescribed medication.
- Communication is key to a successful surgery, so feel free to ask any questions.
Recovery
- Initial sutures are removed around five days after surgery, with the remaining sutures
removed by day 14, depending on the procedure.
- Most patients can return to normal activities within seven days.
- For the first three days, you should sleep with your head slightly elevated and use cold
compresses as needed.
Your Results
- The final shape of your brows will be evident approximately two weeks after surgery.
- Scars
will initially appear pink and firm but will fade and become nearly invisible within six
months.
- The results of your brow lift are permanent, provided you maintain a stable weight
and a healthy lifestyle.
You will be thrilled with your rejuvenated and refreshed
appearance!
